It was a one night stand for Mayer, too. Even Swift mentions that in "We are Never Ever Getting Back Together" - "It lasted for a day...."
Story behind the song. While making her new CD, first announced on Tween Music December 14, 2011 almost six months before anywhere else, someone mentioned Mayer was now dating Katy Perry almost immediately after she and Russell Brand announced their divorce (no one has spoken about the Christmas Day, 2011 photos of Katy Perry cheating on Brand in Hawaii that forced Brand to call it off). That led to the song "We are Never Ever Getting Back Together," possibly the last song recorded for Red.
