End of CMA (Country Music Awards)
Taylor Swift most 1st week CD sales in century
no awards; WT?

Like newspapers that publish a story about a single business as an article instead of paid advertising (my journalism professors taught - anything less than three sources on a business story is a free ad), the Country Music Awards lost all credibility not giving Taylor Swift ANY, let alone the lion's share, awards tonight.

This woman broke 50 Cent's 2005 out of the box record for CD sales last week with Speak Now. Was Kanye West the lone CMA judge?

Innocent Taylor Swift 2010 VMAs
Don't know how long before video banned
Is she singing in and out of key?

Big Bang Records or someone in Taylor Swift's business machine is doing outrageous public relations by removing all YouTube videos of her 2010 MTV Video Music Award performance. After watching one video available, I can see why.

Is she singing in and out of key? I'm tone deaf. Let me know. Comment.

Taylor Swift schedules new CD
Speak Now Oct. 25

Billboard reports:

Taylor Swift will release her third studio album, "Speak Now" -- the follow-up to 2008's "Fearless" -- on Oct. 25, the country star announced Tuesday (July 20). Swift shared the news with her fans on Ustream and said the album's first single, "Mine," will be released around mid-August.

"Ever since we put out 'Fearless' I've been writing this one," said Swift, who added that "Speak Now" will consist of about 14 songs. "Through the past two years, I've been through a lot of things that I have been dying to write about and talk about. There were a lot of things that I wanted to say in the moment but couldn't, and this album is my opportunity to do that.

Wearing a turquoise sundress and yellow headband with a glittery bow, Swift went into detail with her fans about the making of "Speak Now," which she wrote entirely on her own. "I didn't have any co-writers, and it didn't really happen on purpose," she explained. "I'd get my best ideas at 3 am in Arkansas when I didn't have any co-writers around, so I would just finish it." Swift said the same thing happened in New York, Boston and Nashville. "It just so happened that the songs that made the cut on the album were the ones I wrote myself, so, wish me luck!" she laughed.

The 21-year-old singer/songwriter co-produced "Speak Now" with longtime collaborator Nathan Chapman, who worked with her on "Fearless" and her 2006 self-titled debut.

As for "Mine," Swift said the song is about "my tendency to run from love...Every really direct example of love that I've had in front of me has ended in goodbye and has ended in breakups and things like that. So I think I've developed this pattern of sort of running away when it comes time to fall in love. This song is sort of about finding the exception to that."

Swfit also shared some other big news with her fans -- she recently moved into her first home. "I've been constantly talking about antique shopping," she said. "I'm having such a blast with it!"

Swift's "Fearless" album has sold 5.9 million copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan, and was the best-selling album of 2009. Combined with her "Taylor Swift" debut as well as holiday albums and other releases, Swift has sold 11.7 million albums overall.

Newcomer Ke$ha topples Taylor Swift
Ranking twice as high in 2010 albums

It may seem far-fetched and incredible, but for the first half of 2010, Ke$ha has outsold Taylor Swift in albums.

Ke$ha stands at 813,000 units sold according to Billboard, while Swift has sold 587,000. Billboard ranks Ke$ha at #8 and Swift at #16.

We won't go into the fact that Lady Antebellum and Justin Bieber top the first half of the year charts. My mind is not ready to comprehend why or how?

Putting on the income breaks
Miley Cyrus falls from half million per day
in 2009 to $3,500 per day in 2010

TMZ recently reported Selena Gomez makes $11,000 per show for The Wizards of Waverly Place. Believe it or not, Miley Cyrus makes little more for the fourth season of Hannah Montana.

Cyrus had a fabulous 2009. She had her book, Miles to Go. She filmed The Last Song and had the Hannah Montana movie.

She released three albums – Hannah Montana movie soundtrack, The Time of Our Lives and Hannah Montana 3. Each sold extremely well and placed millions in her pocket.

Her biggest $$$ maker in 2009 was the Wonder World tour with 45 dates that netted $1-million per show, not including the T-shirt and show items sales.

Let’s be generous at Hilary Duff Miley Cyrus’ financial outlook for 2010. She has a few movie projects in the offering, but nothing concrete. She is currently filming the final season of Hannah Montana, 26 episodes that ends filming in March. Let’s be generous - $600,000 for those 26 episodes. No CD in the offering, but it would be foolish of Disney not to offer one last Hannah Montana soundtrack, like they did with the Lizzie McGuire movie that sent Hilary Duff into career oblivion.

Cyrus may be filming Wings this year, but IMDB lists the project in development and no filming announced.

She has royalties from all her past material, and she may even make some $$$ from The Last Song, if it breaks even. There will also be a soundtrack from that movie. That appears to be it for Cyrus for 2010.

Again, being generous, from royalties and the Walmart revenue – if there is any residuals from that – she’s making another $600,000 for the year. That equates to roughly $3,500 per day. Going to be rough, how is she going to live off that? Seems the economy is bad in Disney universe like everywhere else.
