Miley Cyrus Twitter musical preference

Miley Cyrus has admitted on Twitter her musical preference is emo. For the past few days I've surrounded myself with Joe Satriani's Anthology CD. I invite Ms. Cyrus to add this to her iPod. She'll forget those emo bands in a moment.

Wouldn't it be fantastic to see Hollywood Records evolve and add Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Eddie Van Halen and Dweezil Zappa as backing musicians for groups like 78violet (Aly & AJ) or Demi Lovato? You'd have the world's top four living guitar players. Come on, argue with that on comments!

Recently I read a music review, possibly from Philadelphia, that Ashley Tisdale was channeling Kelly Clarkson. It wasn't until I heard the first two songs of Here We Go Again that I believed in that review. I love Lovato's voice, but that review and the first two songs ruined the whole CD for me. That's why Hollywood Records needs to evolve. Its Hilary Duff formula - which includes High School Musical, Aly & AJ to Lovato - is growing stale.

So it is my dream (is that a Blue Dream?) to combine the slick production of Disney with the world's greatest rock musicians. Maybe even Pete Townshend! Let me produce the next generation of Tween Music. It will change how you listen to music forever - much like Jimi Hendrix did!

I Love you Beth Cooper
DVD release Nov. 3, 2009

I Love You Beth Cooper, which was one of the lowest box office opening weekends of 2009, $5-million, is due on DVD Nov. 3. Bandslam opened at half that, $2.5-million.

If Bandslam marketers were smart, they'd release Bandslam around the same time to capture holiday shopping, but none of Bandslam's marketing has made sense since its release - like not releasing any singles from the soundtrack.

Miley Cyrus loses all her money

“Although I know I’m earning a lot of money, it goes into some mysterious account somewhere and doesn’t really affect me.” – Miley Cyrus

Oh Miley, Miley, Miley. This destroyed the future of Our Gang/Little Rascals and countless child stars. You need to watch those sharks in Hollywood. Watch your money as you would your purse in a public place.

Learn how to invest your money. You’re 16 – I’d be demanding control of that $$$ right now. Invest in commercial real estate – a great bargain right now that will carry you through the rest of your life.

In case you didn’t know, you’re making in the neighborhood of $500,000 per day. Get control of that and invest, invest, invest.

Bandslam Soundtrack sinks

Released more than 2 weeks ago, Bandslam soundtrack has yet to chart. This must be one of the most unsupported soundtracks in history. The movie itself had one of the worst opening weeks and has not done well. Don’t know if it is still in any theaters – and its only been out two weeks.

The only single released was Honor Society’s Where Are They Now. No release of Vanessa Hudgens’ Everything I Own. It reminds me of a friend who gets real interested in something, like engraving, and in two weeks gives it up after investing a ton of money in the new hobby. Seems like no one wanted to invest in making Bandslam soundtrack succeed.

Calculating Miley Cyrus income and net worth
Living off $40-million take home pay
What orifice did Forbes pull their figures from?

Forbes magazine put Miley Cyrus’ income at $26-million last year, same as the Jonas Brothers. CEOs and business leaders who worship the information in that magazine may want to consider this; how do you account for the $56-million in concert sales, in addition, a lucrative contract with Walmart during the 2007 Christmas season, CD sales, T-Shirt and poster sales at concerts, Miley World fees (a genius marketing tactic). Also, income from a little TV show called Hannah Montana, publishing rights on the songs she wrote and more.

Mainstream media and $26-million indeed. Yet mainstream media wonder why they’re going out of business.

On one of those sleepless evening, I recently calculated Miley Cyrus’ income and she’s not as rich as you think.

In 2009 she has a concert, a book, a TV show renewal, a movie, a movie soundtrack, a TV soundtrack, an EP exclusive with Walmart, a clothing design with Walmart, another movie due in January, The Last Song, probably a soundtrack from that. Let’s figure she’s on track to make $500,000 per day in 2009.

Yet everything is not rosy in Miley-land. First, there’s the AT LEAST 10 percent commission her agent (Mommy Tish?) gets, bringing her daily revenue down to $450,00. Let’s be conservative and say the government gets half that, leaving poor Miley with $225,000 per day. How will she survive? There’s the private jets to meet with Nick, Mitchel Musso show at the Grove and recording sessions in Nashville where Taylor Swift happens to be in the recording studio on the same day per Twitter. Yet where is a song from that collaboration? Oh, probably on The Last Song soundtrack! Remember you heard that here first.

So poor Miley is only going to make roughly $82-million this year. Hey, not so fast. There are musicians to be paid for that upcoming tour, hotel rooms. So let’s say she ends up with only $40-million this year.

Let’s hope her career has the longevity of The Rolling Stones instead of an American Idiot winner. Oh, her career has lasted longer than any of those already? She’s only 16!

On the other hand, let’s say her career is brief like Michelle Branch, Hilary Duff, Keke Palmer or Ashlee Simpson. For the past three years she’s brought home $40-million. That is a great nest egg for investing. If she bought apartment complexes and office buildings at the height of the depression last year, she’ll be sitting pretty for years to come. Much like her idol, Dolly Parton. Hope Ms. Parton has instructed her on investing – she’s an expert at it.

I rather have the actual $40-million she took home after taxes than the pre-tax $26-million Forbes reported.

Ashly Tisdale wishes her nose surgery had been this successful
Colbie Caillat Breakthrough due Tuesday

Breakthrough is Colbie Caillat's new CD premiering this weekend on Radio Disney. If you look at the before and after photos, looks like Caillat had her own breakthrough. No plastic surgeon, but if you compare nose and eyes, the top photos don't compare to the original equipment photos before. Looks like Ashley Tisdale should have asked Caillat what plastic surgeon she was using before getting her nose done. Our compliments to Caillat's doctor. Only one question, why'd you stop at the neck up? Caillat's new look is like the desert in July - HOT! No wonder the Radio Disney disk jockey was pushing Tisdale out the door to get Caillat into the studio.

Trying to make sense of Walmart’s pricing on Miley Cyrus The Time of Our Lives
Official track list and EP preview audio

1- Kicking and screaming.
2- Party in the USA.
3- When I look at you.
4- Time of our lives.
5- Talk is cheap
6- Obsessed
7- Before the storm (ft Jonas Brothers)

Call me a dinosaur. I was trying to figure a few things out. First, if Walmart has an exclusive with the Miley Cyrus EP The Time of Our Life, why is it available on iTunes? Will the entire seven songs be available on iTunes? Then, I was trying to figure out if the whole CD was 99 cents per song, why was Walmart selling it for $8? Then it dawned on me, everyone has changed their pricing. iTunes is getting $1.29 for Potty in the U.S.A. If they do that with the whole EP, it would be $9.03.

On the other hand, you know EVERY song will be on YouTube. So if you only buy the songs you like (Before the Storm off the Jonas Brothers Lines Vines and Trying Times – just saved $1.29 there) and it’s available on iTunes, you don’t need to fork over the full $8 to Walmart. So much for its “exclusive.”
