Taylor Swift schedules new CD
Speak Now Oct. 25

Billboard reports:

Taylor Swift will release her third studio album, "Speak Now" -- the follow-up to 2008's "Fearless" -- on Oct. 25, the country star announced Tuesday (July 20). Swift shared the news with her fans on Ustream and said the album's first single, "Mine," will be released around mid-August.

"Ever since we put out 'Fearless' I've been writing this one," said Swift, who added that "Speak Now" will consist of about 14 songs. "Through the past two years, I've been through a lot of things that I have been dying to write about and talk about. There were a lot of things that I wanted to say in the moment but couldn't, and this album is my opportunity to do that.

Wearing a turquoise sundress and yellow headband with a glittery bow, Swift went into detail with her fans about the making of "Speak Now," which she wrote entirely on her own. "I didn't have any co-writers, and it didn't really happen on purpose," she explained. "I'd get my best ideas at 3 am in Arkansas when I didn't have any co-writers around, so I would just finish it." Swift said the same thing happened in New York, Boston and Nashville. "It just so happened that the songs that made the cut on the album were the ones I wrote myself, so, wish me luck!" she laughed.

The 21-year-old singer/songwriter co-produced "Speak Now" with longtime collaborator Nathan Chapman, who worked with her on "Fearless" and her 2006 self-titled debut.

As for "Mine," Swift said the song is about "my tendency to run from love...Every really direct example of love that I've had in front of me has ended in goodbye and has ended in breakups and things like that. So I think I've developed this pattern of sort of running away when it comes time to fall in love. This song is sort of about finding the exception to that."

Swfit also shared some other big news with her fans -- she recently moved into her first home. "I've been constantly talking about antique shopping," she said. "I'm having such a blast with it!"

Swift's "Fearless" album has sold 5.9 million copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan, and was the best-selling album of 2009. Combined with her "Taylor Swift" debut as well as holiday albums and other releases, Swift has sold 11.7 million albums overall.

Just discovered: how Hannah Montana Forever season ends

It was just discovered that during the final season titled Hannah Montana Forever, Miley and Lilly, like most teenagers, causes Bobby Ray (Billy Ray Cyrus) to sprout gray hairs by coming in at 2 in the morning. They make some lame excuse about being at the "recording studio." Well, here's how Hannah ends up six months after that night of coming in at 2 a.m. You believe that's how Hannah Montana ends, don't you? How about the true ending - she decides to keep doing Hannah and being Miley? Then she goes on to make the second Hannah Montana movie 18 - Legal and Dangerous.

Vampires Suck
Because it is

Official Vampires Suck Trailer

Newcomer Ke$ha topples Taylor Swift
Ranking twice as high in 2010 albums

It may seem far-fetched and incredible, but for the first half of 2010, Ke$ha has outsold Taylor Swift in albums.

Ke$ha stands at 813,000 units sold according to Billboard, while Swift has sold 587,000. Billboard ranks Ke$ha at #8 and Swift at #16.

We won't go into the fact that Lady Antebellum and Justin Bieber top the first half of the year charts. My mind is not ready to comprehend why or how?

Something new in music
Devo Something For Everybody

Truth. I've always disdained Devo. Liked Working in a Coalmine and Satisfaction, but considered them a joke band. I've been looking for THE NEXT BIG thing in music. Think I found it with this song. Pick up the tempo by about 20 more beats PM and it'd be GREAT. Maybe society has devolved enough we can all appreciate this band from the '70s.

Miley Cyrus follows in Hilary Duff footsteps
Can't Be Tamed falls from from #3 to #9

Yes, the show Hannah Montana had to have a blond to follow Lizzie McGuire, one of Disney's most popular television shows of all time. In 2003 the McGuire star, Hilary Duff, went platinum three times (nearly 4-million sold) with Metamorphosis. By 2007, Duff was down to gold, 500,000 units, with Dignity.

From 2007 on, everything Miley Cyrus touched turned to platinum, not gold. Number 1 albums almost consecutively. Then something happenes in late 2009. In 2007. you couldn't touch a sold out Miley Cyrus concert ticket for under $1,000. In 2009, she sold out few if any of her concerts. Her song with Timbaland did not reach the top 100. Her song with Bret Michaels did not chart. Now, Can't Be Tamed, one of at least two CDs she'll release this year, didn't hit #1. It is falling faster than a rock in water.

Don't be too dismayed, though. When she tours late this year, her total income for four years will exceed half-a-billion dollars

Miley Cyrus Hannah Montana Ordinary Girl
3 CDs, fall tour , Hannah Montana 2 Movie
Announced first here - again

Seems like only 15 months ago this site announced Miley Cyrus' 2009 tour that all music trades, websites and blogs scoffed at. You know with Ordinary Girl there will be a send-off Hannah Montana 4 soundtrack CD, a fall tour for Miley (after all, two CDs in one year, a show finale and the upcoming Hannah Montana 2: 18, Legal and Dangerous movie, again announced here 15 months ago, call for a tour). Just like The Last Song, that Hannah Montana 2 project has been pushed back, probably to Christmas time release.

Oh, the movie will help Miley add three CDs in 2010; almost forgot the movie soundtrack!

The problem is, we now need to recalculate her 2010 income - $90-million? That will put her take (in the past 4 years) to over half-a-billion dollars.
