Shanica Knowles, you – and your marketing impress me

Go to Shanica Knowles’ (Amber on Hannah Montana) MySpace page.

Would like to pat myself on the back that she’s listening to me, but she’s probably figured some marketing skills on her own.

For some time I have advocated bands limit their online music to 90 seconds (except for YouTube), and offer a “buy” option. Well, when you check out Knowles’ MySpace page, that’s what you get.

Ms.Knowles – you need to add a YouTube of “Can You Handle Me”. I realize the “official” video is probably in production, but this song is so hot you should get it up NOW. I also appreciated embedded videos before anyone else and downloads – hint, hint.

If listeners are expecting her cousin, Beyonce’s, sound – forget it. This talent belongs on Hollywood Records. You listening Bob Cavallo?

Sorry for the sound quality, but this is as priceless as those clips of those famous stars who tested for “Star Wars” in the ‘70s and didn’t make it.

Why you need to get Internet airplay – Building the Band Brand series

Who is Cheyenne Kimball? Thought I kept up with current events, but an Oprah show promoting America’s most talented "kids" (thought it was about baby goats) got past my grasp. Must have been on the can the whole 30 seconds it was on the air.

Didn’t even connect her as the author of “Four Walls,” a hit for Miley Cyrus.

Did discover her on an Internet radio station, though. Believe it was Launchcast.

That’s why it is so important for bands who want to become famous in the 21st Century to get “radio” play. Unlike the ‘50s through 2008, as we enter the second decade of the 21st Century “radio” play means Internet radio.

At least 60 percent of the U.S. and Europe are on the Internet. I listen to radio stations out of my father’s native Buttevant, Ireland in the wee mornings hours when the East Coast of the U.S. is just rising to Danny Bonaduce in Philadelphia – also available on the Internet.

I’d venture 35 percent of the most populated areas of the world – Europe, U.S., Japan/Asia are getting their music online or from satellite. In 10 years, over-the-air radio audience will be like today’s newspapers.

Look, if an unknown president named Barak Obama is utilizing Internet advertising – and YouTube – to promote his agendas, why aren’t you promoting your band via Internet? Take a clue, Arnold! Think you invented this avenue, Mr. Governator (Thank you and Maria for following me on Twitter).

Sibling Hudgens and Jonas

I am so bummed. When I found out Vanessa had a younger sister, Stella Hudgens, I had dreams of her hooking up with Bonus Jonas, Frankie, in the future. Unfortunately Stella is five years older than Frankie. Ain’t gonna happen.

Turns out the Hudgens’ family lives in Oceanside, a beautiful suburb of Del Mar, California. Vanessa, take the Coaster. Wonderful view going into or out of San Diego. It will show you parts of North County you can’t see in a limo. There’s several Vanessa and Stella YouTubes, but I love Lindsay Lohan’s voice as much as Vanessa’s, so bear with this video.

In the meantime, I found some ads and outtakes on the celebrity Hudgens. Watch the TV rehearsal. Listen closely. You can hear Vanessa’s real voice is better than the canned music used during the show. Then, what ad has she not been in? I understand Stella is doing ads too. Homes are expensive in North San Diego County; right next to Camp Pendleton.
