Poor Ashley Tisdale Guilty Pleasure fails to sell Billboard report on Tween queens

Selena Gomez and the Scene's debut album has sold 387,000 copies in the U.S. to date, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The set has spent 18 weeks on the Billboard 200, peaking at No. 9 upon its debut in October. The album's single Naturally debuts on both Dance/Club Play Songs (No. 39) and Pop Songs (No. 40) this week.

Tisdale's debut effort, 2007's Headstrong, has shifted 478,000 units. Her sophomore set, last year's Guilty Pleasure, has sold 74,000 copies. The releases reached Nos. 5 and 12, respectively, on the Billboard 200.

Lovato's Don't Forget (No. 2, Billboard 200, 2008) has totaled 473,000 units sold. Here We Go Again (No. 1, 2009) has moved 369,000 copies. - Billboard 2-9-10

Ke$ha next big thing Dies rapidly as Vampire Weekend Tops Billboard charts tomorrow Taylor Swift closing in on singles chart

Ke$ha, lauded by the media as the next big thing, Gaga Jr., spent one week at the top of Billboard's top 200 charts. Even American Idiot winners David Archuleta and David Cook made it to the #2 spot on the top 200.

Ke$ha falls to #3, selling about 150,000 total CDs - which isn't bad and beat Ashley Tisdale's two week 30,000 for Guilty Pleasure five fold.

Not sure if Ke$ha will remain at the top of the singles chart, but Taylor Swift's Today was a Fairytale will take #1 single within the next three weeks - as soon as radio stations start playing it.

Vampire Weekend is an Owl City sound-alike. Listen to Jack's Mannequin or Something Corporate for better talent in this arena.

Poor Ashley Tisdale, now being ripped off by Kmart

First it was people on Ebay stealing Guilty Pleasure. Now Kmart is definitely ripping her Sharpay character from High School Muiscal.

Dang, girl Selena Gomez Kiss and Tell

Heard this song, Bang a Drum, on Internet radio. It’s in my collection, but it hit me when I heard it while working on the computer. Selena Gomez says we shouldn’t listen to this stuff, that her upcoming Kiss and Tell CD (scheduled for end of September - sure) will be much better. I thought this song was off Ashley Tisdale’s new Guilty Pleasure. What a shock when I looked down and it was the most popular girl in Hollywood.

Not a good week for Tween music at Billboard No radio play for Bandslam soundtrack

Ashley Tisdale’s movie bombed last weekend, so did Guilty Pleasure. It sold a mere 25,000, landing it in the #12 spot on Billboard’s 200 top CDs. There were nearly 6-million CDs sold last week.

Call it the sophomore jinx the Gin Blossoms discussed. Headstrong, her first CD, did 64,000 its first week. Watch for this CD to fall fast.

Speaking of falling fast, Demi Lovato’s Here We Go again is the fastest falling CD on this week’s chart. Down to #8 from #1 last week, selling only 39,000.

Landing at #7 with 41,000 sales, falling from #5, is the Hannah Montana Volume 3 soundtrack.

Not a good week for Tween music.

No airplay yet for Bandslam soundtrack, due out Tuesday. Not a brilliant marketing move.

Ashley Tisdale movie bombs What about Guilty Pleasure?

Ashley Tisdale’s Aliens in the Attic did as well as Hayden Panettiere’s I Love You Beth Cooper; actually better. Attic made $8-mill compared to Cooper at $5-mill for its opening weekend. It landed at #5 and will fall FAST.

Yawn – who cares? Tisdale has been all over the Internet, Twitter, MySpace – and it wasn’t promoting Aliens, either. It was hyping (in her case, SUPER hyping) Guilty Pleasure. I’ve already gone out on a limb and said it would be #1 on Billboard’s 200 next week, right out of the box. Let’s see if I’m right.

I give Tisdale kudos; why I’ll explain in a minute. I’ve spent the last 24-hours doing NOTHING but listening to the Bandslam CD version of Vanessa Hudgens singing Everything I Own.

Hudgens has said she is giving up singing for acting. Big mistake. I have said Alyson Michalka has the finest voice ever, but look whose song I’m listening to off the soundtrack. I’ve bestowed the POSE-OFF QUEEN title to Hudgens. Wait until you see Bandslam and how she poses so well during her song performance – she was meant for music, not movies. What a fantastic voice!

Let me be brutal here – Ashley Tisdale does not have the voice either Michalka or Hudgens have. Like me, she is able to spot music trends and where pop culture is going – how else did she land on Zack & Cody as well as High School Musical enterprise? I love her marketing finesse. Unlike Hudgens, she is using that to her advantage. So what if Aliens bombs – she’s delivered her image to her HSM, Zack & Cody audience and is going after her passion with Guilty Pleasure. What’s not to love with that marketing finesse?

#1 hit first week in August, Guilty Pleasure End of August Bandslam soundtrack

Going to go out on a limb for several reasons.

First, I’ve been listening to Headstrong as my gym workout tunes for more than a year.

Two, I’ve been listening to It’s Alright; It’s Okay since April, and frankly I’m sick of it.

Third, she was born a year and 24 days before my daughter.

Fourth, and the main reason, there is NO ONE who understands 21st Century marketing like Ashley Tisdale. She won the first – and only so far – Building the Band Brand: Becoming famous in the 21st Century Award – which she has yet to pick up.

So I’m going to go out on a limb and predict a week in advance Ashley Tisdale’s Guilty Pleasure will debut at #1 on next week’s Billboard 200 chart. Let’s see if I’m right or wrong. After all, she’s going up against Exposed by Kristina DeBarge that has an Amazon introductory price of $6.99. Speaking of Exposed, where did this photo come from?

How many weeks has a Hollywood Records CD been in the top 5 – Jonas Bros., Demi Lovato, Hannah Montana Volume 3? They must sleep money. For that reason, I’m going to say August belongs to Hollywood. Ashley Tisdale and at the end of the month, Bandslam soundtrack #1 out of the box. I believe they owe some of that to me!

What is going on with Bandslam soundtrack? Some of the best 21st Century marketing I’ve seen this side of Ashley Tisdale, and now I’m seeing kinks in the armour.

Every Tween – teen site has posted the video of Vanessa Hudgens’ Everything I own, but the MP3 is not available on Amazon, iTunes or other sites. It’s not getting radio play. Neither is Taylor Swift’s American Girl (Tom Petty cover song). I will admit, I MOSTLY listen to Internet radio, and I’m not hearing either. If you’re going to preview a music product, at least have it available to purchase. Could you see the Beach Boys releasing Little Deuce Coupe without it available (within a few days) for sale? That’s called dumb, stupid marketing. It’s called letting greenbacks slip through your fingers.

Then, at the end of June I posted the Bandslam soundtrack. During a recent Web cast Aly & AJ said Lovesick, schedule for Bandslam, will be on their –who knows when it will be releases- 78violet work.

Today I checked Amazon again. Now it has Femme Fatal listed twice, same song, Lovesick is gone, as well as Amphetamine that is in a promo clip for the movie. Also, What Heart, Olive Future, 24 Hours - Shack and Young Folks - Peter, Bjorn & John. Three new songs have been added. What’s up wit’ dat? Hopefully it is Amazon that has messed up, but a recent encounter with a public relations staffer at the record label would lead me to question the label’s marketing capability. Hopefully the film producer will catch this. It may have been a case of while the cat’s away, the mice will play and the record label made the changes without discussing the marketing strategy with the film producers. Not a good strategy, though.

At least we’ve found out the name of the winners of Bandslam. It’s one of the songs listed on the July 26 set (hint – not on the June 29 set list).
