Some women marry a man for his money. Sort of happened to Tish Cyrus when she married Billy Ray Cyrus. It took 17 years, but it has paid off for Tish, and Billy Ray had little to do with it other than giving her a child originally named Destiny Hope.
That baby girl grew, changed her name to Miley and delivered $20-million+ to Tish Cyrus in the month of April, 2010.
Tish is the producer on The Last Song, which has earned $55-million in a month; holding at #9 at the box office this week.
Eight weeks into the charts, Miley Cyrus' When I look at You, originally released on The Time of Our Lives EP, but more recently on The Last Song soundtrack, is perched at #16 on Billboard's Hot 100 with a star - meaning it's rising.
This follows two singles that stiffed - Nothing to Lose with Bret Michaels, and my favorite of all Miley songs, Timbaland's We Belong to the Music.
Earlier today, Reuters reported Miley Cyrus' The Last Song in fourth place with $3.5-million for the weekend. Minutes ago, IMDB released its weekly box office, putting The Last Song in fifth place with $10-million. Take your pick.
As reported last week, The Last Song opened with $16-million, putting it in fourth place. Ironic, $3.5-million this week-end kept it in fourth place. The movie is close to earning $30-million during its two weeks.
Personal prediction is Miley Cyrus' The Last Song will do just more than half of what Hannah Montana movie did, $34-million its opening weekend; I'm predicting $23-million, if that.
It opens Wednesday, March 31. Up against movies that traditionally open on Fridays, including Tina Fey and Steve Carell in Date Night, something called Letters to God. Also, The Good, The Bad, The Wierd; The Square and this year's answer to Cadillac Records, Who Do You Love, another film about Leonard Chess. When will the Phil Spector movies start?

Wonder how hottie Amanda Seyfried is tied to Miley Cyrus? Both star in 2010 in a movie written by Nicholas Sparks. Dear John has grossed $56-million in two weeks. Miley Cyrus prays The Last Song will do that well.
Once more The Last Song, Miley Cyrus' 2010 movie, has changed its opening date. Originally due out in January, then April 2, the opening date has been changed to a Wednesday, avoiding direct competition from Clash of the Titans and Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married Too?
Personal prediction is Cyrus' movie may, just may, do $40-million opening week - with the mid-week opening included (gut tells me not even $25-million). Yet Tyler Perry will win at the box office.
IMDB has announced the Miley Cyrus epic (yes, it's going to suck) The Last Song was pushed back from January to April of 2010.
This makes sense. Following the Wonder World tour that ends in the UK just before the 21st Century's second decade starting, Cyrus will begin filming the 4th season of Hannah Montana, to be called Hannah Montana on Deck, a take off on Zack & Cody on Deck. Will it be filmed during Major League Baseball spring training in Florida or Arizona?
Since the first Hannah Montana movie grossed more than $100-million including DVD, you can bet Disney, which hasn't had a hit that big since Pirates of the Caribbean 2: Dead Man's Chest, will do the sequel Hannah Montana 2: 18, Legal and Dangerous, chronicled at Jonas Montana blog.

Finally caught Miley Cyrus in concert. More on it later. Can't believe I sat through - and paid for - a half-hour infomercial for her upcoming movie, The Last Song. Song was premiered here first.
I can see The Rolling Stones including a infomercial in their concerts for Martin Scorsese's Shine the Light. That didn't happen, did it?

Get ready for songs from the soundtrack to come out around the 10th of October to build recognition for the movie due in January (beginning of the second decade). Miley will be on tour and its a good bet she'll add The Last Song tunes mid-tour - after I've seen the concert!
So a soundtrack $15, movie, about $20 per child when you figure in the popcorn and stuff and $20 for the book when you figure in shipping or taxes. Tour $100 per child. Miley's got your money!

She just released The Time of Our Lives EP that debuted at #3 this week on Billboard charts.
Good bet she’ll be on what used to be Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Years; is it now Ryan Seabiscuit’s Rockin’ New Years? After all, she’ll be doing radio and morning news shows (Cyrus KNOWS how to do 21st Century marketing) at the beginning of the year promoting The Last Song.

Girls Just Want to Have Fun movie
Cyrus said she recently met Cyndi Lauper and was impressed. That’s why she did Girls Just Wanna Have Fun on Breakout. So impressed, that is one of two films Cyrus is scheduled to shoot after season four of Hannah Montana wraps (approximately summer 2010).
Possibly before Girls Just Want to Have Fun, Cyrus is scheduled to shoot a movie called Wings. Understand this is tentative. Believe Girls Just Want to Have Fun is another Momma Tish (Cyrus’ mother) production like The Last Song.
A personal prediction is Hannah Montana II: Legal and Dangerous movie following the fourth season wrap. Check the photo. Isn’t that Miley signaling Hannah Montana II?
Between now and the end of the year, there probably will be thousands of CDs released. Yet, I can only think of five upcoming Tween CDs, and the availability of each of those is iffy.
We have Miley Cyrus Time of Our Lives, a Wal-mart exclusive supposedly being released at the end of August; an EP, not a full CD.
She more than likely will have the soundtrack to The Last Song out before the end of the year, probably mid-part of her fall tour.
Due at the end of September, Kiss and Tell, Selena Gomez first effort.
Emily Osment is supposed to have a CD out this year (just found out pushed back to March, 2010). Hayden Panettiere was scheduled for June of 2008. Still haven’t seen that one.
Another Osment single (like Panettiere, she has at least a third of a CD from singles), All the Way Up, is set to launch this Friday.
When Hell freezes over, I mean due sometime this fall, is 78violet, Aly & AJ new CD. Third or fourth, depending upon the Christmas CD.
Their first CD, Into the Rush, is reportedly near the platinum stage – meaning 1-million units sold. Insomniatics is reportedly near gold, 500,000 units.
The Jonas Brothers, Taylor Swift nor any other Tween stars are slated for release this year. They’ve already released and toured.
Ashley Tisdale’s poor showing of 25,000 CDs out of the box demonstrates being a Tween star does not guarantee record sales. Her movie bombed as well; same as Hayden Panttiere’s I Love You Beth Cooper. If Bandslam does poorly at the box office, it is the death knell for the Tween trend. We already know the soundtrack will stiff.

Look at all the music career carnage in recent years. Hilary Duff, one of my favorites - Skye Sweetnam, Christy Carlson Romano, sisters Lindsay and Ali Lohan or Ashlee and Jessica Simpson. The list goes on and on of artists who have had their three CD contracts and thrown aside by the music industry. As Andy Warhol said, 15 minutes of fame.

Reportedly Cyrus starts filming her mother’s production, “The Last Song,” either this weekend or next week.
The Savannah, Ga. newspaper reports Thursday, June 4, 2009 (how do I get tomorrow’s news today?), “A casting director for the Miley Cyrus movie scheduled to begin filming this month in Savannah and on Tybee Island is looking for specific characters to fit parts in the movie ‘The Last Song,’ according to the city's tourism and film services department.
“The director wants to hear from experienced volleyball players and coaches as well as doctors and nurses.
“The director also is looking for experienced stand-ins who have done similar work in the past.
“Representatives in the city office said they were conveying the information about the casting role as a courtesy to the production department.
“In April, city officials announced Walt Disney pictures chose the area for filming. More than 250 jobs will be created, and spending is expected to amount to millions of dollars.
“The film's plot likely will revolve around a rebellious teenager sent to spend the summer with her estranged father.
“Auditions for the movie began last week.
“Anyone who meets the criteria of the casting director and is interested in being in the movie should e-mail a recent photo and contact information to lastsongextras@gmail.com”

Is Hannah Montana movie #1 at the box office? Still standing by the prediction of largest opening weekend ever for any Disney film, but won’t be official until Monday. Good Friday opening helped. A week from Monday I predict #1 movie – still Hanny Montanny and #2, Zac Efron’s 17 Again.
What a year for Cyrus. This weekend Hannah Montana. In June she begins filming “The Last Song” in Georgia (why not Tennessee – it worked for Hannah Montana movie). Based on a book by Nicholas Sparks and directed by Julie Anne Robinson (Pushing Daisies, Grey’s Anatomy, others). The movie is produced by Tish Cyrus, Miley’s mom.
This may be Cyrus’ first bomb at the box office since “Bolt” (which really wasn’t that bad of a movie). Sorry, but Robinson doesn’t have the big screen chops for a movie of this caliber. Remember, you heard it here first, again. No need to worry, though. The movie isn’t to be released until 2011 and won’t hurt Cyrus earning $500,000 per day this year.
The question is, will the movie feature either All American Rejects or Elton John’s songs “The Last Call”? I prefer the Rejects, but it would be “cool” to have both.
