Will The Last Song be Miley Cyrus Hiroshima? Opening date changed 3rd time Now Wednesday, March 31

Once more The Last Song, Miley Cyrus' 2010 movie, has changed its opening date. Originally due out in January, then April 2, the opening date has been changed to a Wednesday, avoiding direct competition from Clash of the Titans and Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married Too?

Personal prediction is Cyrus' movie may, just may, do $40-million opening week - with the mid-week opening included (gut tells me not even $25-million). Yet Tyler Perry will win at the box office.

A private word to Summit Entertainment about marketing Bandslam

First, get rid of the video of Everything I Own up everywhere and put up the movie version. This one sucks in comparison.

Second, put up a video – doing what you did with Everything I Own of film parts – of Someone to Fall Back On.

Third, quit pandering this as a teen flick. Once moms go with children to this movie, they’re going to see how dark and brooding it really is on a deeper level their children won’t comprehend. You’re going to have all those Desperate Housewives watching moms recommending this movie. This is a movie about high school angst, rejection and feelings. Every mom will love it!

Lastly, I want to thank you for the David Bowie part. Whoever incorporated that whole line of thinking was genius. I will say you’re not going to beat Star Trek or Harry Potter, but you’re going to do a hell of a lot better than I Love You Beth Cooper. I love your marketing strategies; especially Aly & AJ Twittering from London. Genius. Too bad you don’t have Vanessa Hudgens doing the same. Who knows? There's half-a-month until the opening. Maybe you will.

Vanessa Hudgens and Mary Kate Olsen get beastly with Doogie Howser

This should be good. Mary Kate Olsen and Vanessa Hudgens are currently filming “Beastly,” reportedly around Montreal. The best part is, it also stars Doogie Howser! Yes, Neil Patrick Harris. No wonder we haven’t seen Zac and Vanessa together recently.

According to Wikipedia, here’s the plot: “Kyle Kingsbury, rich, handsome and popular, is turned into a beast when he plays a mean practical joke on a distasteful girl in his class, who is really a witch in disguise. He is locked in a mansion-like apartment by his shallow, image-obsessed father. His only company is his housekeeper, Magda, and, at his request, a tutor named Will. Kyle has two years to truly fall in love with someone and earn their love in return, or remain a beast forever. After a year of being in this state, and trying and failing to find love, Kyle changes his name to Adrian to reflect his feelings of being a completely different person from the conceited, materialistic boy he used to be. The CBS Films (does that mean it will go to theaters or television?) is being directed by newcomer Daniel Barnz. In other words, Doogie Howzer will steal the show no matter who plays Kyle Kingsbury, as he did in the Harold and Kumar series.

Based on some book written by someone other than Tony Hillerman, so who cares.

Scheduled to be released July of next year. After that, Hudgens is set to film "Sucker Punch," for release in March 2011.

There's rumor of a 23rd James Bond film - I believe Hudgens would make the perfect Bond girl! Wake up, Hollywood.

Disney screws Zac Efron

Zac Efron was screwed by Disney this weekend. I went by a movie theater and there was only one showing of 17 Again, about 11 a.m., but Up was on about a gazillion screens with 17 different show times a day. For the first time in seven weeks, his movie fell out of the top 10.

Imagine if 17 Again had shown on a gazillion screens this weekend with 17 different shows for each screen, it, too, would be #1 again. At least it did better than Jonas Brothers 3D (due on DVD shortly) and Hannah Montana the movie.

I’m not feeling all that broken hearted for Zac, though. Lucky guy gets to date Vanessa Hudgens.

Tip Gone Amiss

Anyone remember the “Wish Gone Amiss” Disney episode? Well, I got a tip the Jonas’ were going to be going to the movie with Grandma “in Chandler” either tonight or through Saturday.

Have to admit Harkins Theaters PR person is fantastic. To protect that person, let’s just say he or she corrected my misunderstanding that Grandma Jonas lives in Sun Lakes. S/he gave me the correct suburb.

S/he also confirmed the Bros. family was not going to a movie in Chandler this weekend; but would not admit if the company knew the Jonas. Bros. agent or if the boys had contacted the movie chain. There was a "wink-wink" to the voice.

So doing investigative reporting – a lost art – I called a number I obtained. I asked if Mrs. Jonas was in. A boy sounding between 8 and 10 said no. I asked if any adult was home. “No.”

“Is this Frankie?” I asked. The person on the other end hung up the phone.

So, will the bus be parked in front of Grandma’s tonight? Will the whole family – including Frankie – be watching Jonas Bros. 3rd Degree, whoops, I mean 3D, in sunny Arizona this weekend, either at Harkins Gateway Pavilions 18 or Dickinson Palm Valley 14?

Will the boys be watching a Cleveland Indians ball game against Diamondbacks, Padres, Rockies or Rangers?
