A Disney starlet crushed an "American Idol" champion

Billboard said it best. I couldn’t say it better. Every Clear Channel radio station hypes American Idiot. That reason alone makes it the most watch show in the U.S.

Yet name one star who’s had longevity off American Idiot. Kelly Clarkson compared to Taylor Swift, please. Fantasia Barino – who? Ruben Stoddard – who? Taylor Hicks – what record contract do any of these have? Corbin Bleu is doing better. Mitchel Musso has eclipsed them! In two years David Cook will be added to this list.

I will admit, Carrie Underwood has sustaining power. I have to support hometown girl Jordin Sparks, but Billboard doesn’t:

Demi Lovato rules album chart; Jordin Sparks bombs

NEW YORK (Billboard) – A Disney starlet crushed an "American Idol" champion on the U.S. pop album chart Wednesday

Demi Lovato's second album "Here We Go Again" debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with after selling 108,000 copies during the week ended July 26, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The star of Disney Channel's "Sonny With a Chance" bowed at No. 2 last September when "Don't Forget" sold 89,000 copies.

Elsewhere on the Billboard 200, 2007 "Idol" winner Jordin Sparks' second album "Battlefield" debuted at No. 7 with 48,000 copies. Her 2007 self-titled debut entered and peaked at No. 10 with 119,000.

Why people devote their lives and waste their times to American Idiot is beyond me. People could learn French or Physics in the amount of time they devote to following Idiot.

There’s only one champ in U.S. music – and Hollywood Records is today’s Motown, Chess and Stax labels all rolled into one.
